Russia is a nation of gangsters. After Putin, I assume that he will be replaced by another hardliner. That is what we will assume from their history. Gorbachev was a notable exception. The next Russian leader is unlikely to be someone like him. It's like the Game of Thrones in Moscow. Most likely someone from FSB will take power.
Oh well, wish him the best!!!
WEF grad defeated! Good….
The Finns Party seems to have a more reasonable energy policy than the Social Democrats.
I’m not sure where the NCP is on the energy issue.
She may have been a far-left lunatic, but she was a total smokeshow.
I’d hit it.
Evidently nuclear is OK with the new guy.
“Petteri Orpo: A new nuclear power plant for Finland”
One of the most important tasks of the future government is to strongly speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants in Finland. The coalition wants nuclear power to become the cornerstone of the government’s energy policy.
Nuclear power has numerous competitive advantages. First of all, the production of electricity is cheap and the supply of electricity is reliable. Regardless of the weather, nuclear power can generate energy at a steady pace. Nuclear power is also completely clean energy production and strengthens our self-sufficiency. Strengthening self-sufficiency by breaking away from foreign fossil energy makes Finland a safer country.
“Positive attitude towards nuclear power in Finland”
The coalition proposes that the parties undertake in the upcoming election period to grant a positive decision in principle to all new nuclear power projects that meet the minimum western requirements. The design of nuclear power plants is expensive and it must be possible to undertake it without the risk that the work will be wasted. Political risk must be removed from nuclear power projects. In addition, the implementation of a new nuclear power project must start in the next election period.
The positive attitude must concern both modular small reactors and larger nuclear power units, taking safety requirements into account. The future government must commit to faster progress than previously planned with the reform of the Nuclear Energy Act. Only with the help of significant new nuclear power investments can we secure affordable and reliable electricity and make Finland a clean energy superpower.
Finland has several key advantages as a nuclear power country. In Finland, there is basically a very positive attitude towards nuclear power on behalf of the citizens. At the same time, we have maintained state-of-the-art nuclear power know-how and are resolved to new power while maintaining the old. In Finland, the nuclear waste disposal issue has also been resolved with the Onkalo project . Many other countries are even jealous of this.
In Sweden, the new government has committed to providing state guarantees for 35 billion euros to promote new nuclear power projects. In nuclear power, the costs are focused specifically on the construction phase, and the smooth running of the construction phase is central to the promotion of nuclear power. If necessary, Finland must be ready for solutions similar to Sweden’s, so that we can secure new nuclear power investments in Finland as soon as possible. Availability of affordable, reliable and clean energy must be one of Finland’s competitive advantages in the future.
Petteri Orpo
Opposition leader Orpo told the Reuters news agency that cutting unemployment, welfare benefits and business subsidies could rebalance the economy.
She certainly was the prettiest head of government anywhere. Not the brightest bulb, but it’s hard to hurt a country like Finland.
Can’t wait for Alex to give us his take. She’s in tatters!
I was just thinking - I wonder if there is a strip joint in Finland called “Laplanders”
It’s funny how all these commie women look the same. Looks just like that Kiwi one New Zealand just flushed.
“Finns to the Left....”
