On Thursday, Florida lawmakers filed a bill that would allow Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) to run for president without having to first resign from the governor’s office.
Current state law mandates that if DeSantis were to run for another office, he would have to resign from his current post in order to do so, as reported by the Epoch Times.
The bill, Senate Bill 7050, was filed at 6:08 p.m. just roughly thirty minutes after news broke that 45th President Donald Trump will be indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).
The filing comes after Gov. DeSantis took a stand for President Trump against the unjustified indictment, taking to Twitter to decry the “anti-American’ nature of the political persecution.
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” DeSantis wrote. “It is un-American.”

It is un-American.

WATCH: TRUMP TEAM RELEASES POWERFUL VIRAL AD IN RESPONSE TO INDICTMENT
“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct,” he explained. “Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”
“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” DeSantis added.
While DeSantis has yet to announce an official run for the presidency, many took his recent book tour as a shadow campaign as the Florida governor crisscrossed the country to tell conservative audiences about his model of leadership.
While the Florida legislature is getting ready to lay the groundwork for DeSantis to run for the Republican nomination, Trump’s indictment likely overshadows its importance.
“Has (Vivek) converted to Christianity yet?”
Biden, Carter, and Pelosi are Christians, so please forgive me if I don’t base my vote on that.
Sorry I was considering DeSantis and actually leaning heaving toward him, but after Trump being indicted I’m 100% on the Trump Train again.

You can certainly use whatever criteria you prefer.
But none of them as far as I can tell are believers in Christ… and so far, V-man isn’t either.
Trump 2024. We don’t have free elections anymore. When they steal it from Trump again we will either fight or be subjugated. No more keyboard warriors. They’ll probably make it illegal to post on this website anyway.
Yesssssss.
Don’t. Go and write in Donald Trump.
You’re not paying attention. We lose BIG without Trump in 2024.

You’re correct.
I think you are mental.
DeSantis is an amazing conservative leader. Nobody pulls his chains.
He is about to sign permit less concealed carry while Trump wanted to ban assault weapons.
That’s no problem. But if ya think this is going to help DeSantis, you’re not paying attention. Only one person is going to gain here, and that’s Trump. Bet the rent.
Cold day in hell when I go back to supporting corrupt career political insiders, who’ve never held a job outside government. These people can’t even relate to private sector middle class America. I’ve had enough of that bull sh*t to last 4 lifetimes.
” Ron can whistle Dixie “.
But, can he sing The Bonnie Blue Flag ? : )
“Any opinions on Jeanette Nunez, the Lt. Governor? She would be the likely person to take over if Ron DeSantis does step down.”
DeSantis will only be stepping down if he wins the presidency in November, 2024, provided the Florida Legislature votes to repeal the “Resign to Run” law prior to his formally declaring his candidacy for President in 2024.
Otherwise he will remain Florida Governor till his term expires at the end of 2026 should his bid to win the 2024 GOP Nomination for President and/or the general election come up short of victory.
Without 75 million of Trumps good friends, DeSantis has zero zip chance of getting elected president.
LBJ was never the governor of Texas-he was a senator-from years before I was born until JFK was forced to take him on as VP-my parents told me LBJ won every term as senator by massive cheating-like many Texas Hispanics, they hated him...
DeSantis and Youngkin are the UniParty “solutions” to MAGA.
Prove me wrong
Trump has been at war with the deep state for 7 years. They impeached him twice, have investigated him relentlessly, and now have indicted him. And yet he fights on. DeSantis has faced none of that. What you’ve witnessed in Florida is a highly crafted illusion, not leadership. Leadership of the kind Trump possesses only truly reveals itself in adversity. It doesn’t reveal itself in the controlled environment of Florida politics. Do you think the deep state will just back off because DeSantis tells them to? Will they cower and yield to him because his aura and mystic overwhelms them? The DS laughs at people like you who buy into the DeSantis mystic.
Entertaining to watch the onlyTrumpers line up with the Dems on this…..
Aside from the fact that the man in the street never heard of him.
