Former Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Friday called on former President Donald Trump to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race after news broke that a grand jury had voted to indict him.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has pursued a case involving a hush money payment that Trump's then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, made to Stormy Daniels in 2016. Legal experts have derided the case as baseless and a political prosecution.
In an appearance on Fox Business, however, Hutchinson contended that Trump should respect the office of the presidency by not running while indicted.
"When a public official is indicted, I think with regard to the office, the office is more important than the person and they should step aside. That standard should apply here," he said in reference to Trump, according to The Hill. "It is a distraction. It is not a good day for America, but the system has to play out here and we have to have confidence that it can."
Hutchinson did admit he "would not have brought" the case were he in Bragg's position and warned that the chargers needed to be "very substantive" to avoid the appearance of a political prosecution.

If Trump is forced to stand aside, Biden will be re-elected.

Some of our “star” players from the Clinton Impeachment sure haven’t turned out very well. Asa and Lindsey. Ugh. Hutchinson was a firebrand in those days. Now, not so much.

Mr. Hutchinson apparently wants Trump to take the "high road". Does he honestly think any Dem would do that if so accused?
Methinks Mr. Hutchinson is more than a closet Dem....

Boy that would mean anytime a Republican candidate ran the left would come up with bogus charges and indict and presto, no candidate.
Why should he lose his ability to run if he is accused of something. Standing aside would make him absolutely LOOK guilty.

He has thrown himself into the garbage bin of history. Good riddance to this fool.

I’m very curious if Trump told them if the charges are dropped he will immediately go on live TV and end his campaign if they’d drop all charges. If Trump thinks he can get that commitment he should try to get it in writing right away.

I am with you. I don’t think there is a testicle left in the Republican party. I have had enough of Bitch McConnel, Linda Graham, McRomney, and the rest of them. Sack Up!

Really Asa-hole?
It’s precisely this type of framing of events and the call for continuous cowering by RINO’s that make these types of prosecutorial tactics effective and motivates the corrupt lawfare types to push forward.

I know you are angry, I’m angry, we are all angry. However, in the past 24 hours I am more filled with resolve than ever before.
Every whiteboard is cleared, every distraction is removed, everything is now singularly focused on this corrupt and manipulative war that is going to take place in the battlefield of presidential politics with Donald John Trump at the center of it. I have prayed more in the past several weeks than in my entire lifetime and now we reach the phase where we lift our heads, get off our knees and confront this corrupt, conniving system.
I will share more later. In the interim, what former Acting Director of National Intelligence, Ric Grenell, describes in this video {direct rumble link here} is 100% what should happen. However, I doubt the corrupt professional political class behind the schemes and manipulations would agree to it. Grenell explains that every GOPe candidate should withdraw from the 2024 race, and immediately position their battlements in full alignment with President Trump. WATCH:
*****
“That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.”
“This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.”
Cold anger is displaced with the sense of resolute and purposeful rage…
Delicate sensibilities now dispatched like a feather in a hurricane…
This is a zero-sum conflict now!

Predictable response from linguini spined Asa H. He was Lt. Governor under Clinton! The snakes are crawling out from their dark hiding places to weigh in on something they know nothing about.

I think Grenell’s got the right idea here.
