Well, you of course can look at the situation the way you like.

For me, though, if one of my state officials gets into a spat with a state official in another state, I hardly see that eventuating into a “Civil War.”

It’s not just the Trump thing by it self. I also pointed out two cases for states going to ‘war’ with one another and I could easily give you more. You seem bright enough am sure if you considered things with an open mind you could see some points of contention between various states that are total at opposite and extremely continuous say Abortion. Many states find other states bans so offensive that the go out of their way to provide such services to the point of thumbing their nose as much as posable the other states laws. This type of behavior is bound to causes serous animosity and eventerly conflict. I would suggest you look up the term Normalcy Bias I think you would find it interesting. As you say to each their own
