Britain's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson to remain in jail following parole hearing
Sky News ^ | March 30 | Tom Gillespie

Britain's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson will remain behind bars after being denied release by the Parole Board.

Bronson, 70, was jailed for armed robbery in 1974 and, but for a couple of brief episodes of freedom, has been in jail ever since.

His original seven-year sentence has been extended many times because of his violent attacks on prison staff and fellow inmates.

He has been denied release following a public parole hearing where he claimed to be a "born-again artist" who "went through a phase" of taking hostages.

The Parole Board's decision comes a day after he sent a voice note to Sky News claiming he "hates violence" and has been a "model prisoner" for the last decade.

Bronson, who has changed his named to Charles Salvador, also claimed he has "never been a danger to the public", adding: "I love the world".

There was a convicted (white) murderer who was paroled in Massachusetts, with the same kind of sob story. Within a year he murdered a policeman during a jewelry store robbery, the week before Christmas. The police officer was to retire on December 31st.

Willie Horton murdered a young white gas station attendant back in the day when gas stations had cash at night, and stuffed his body in a dumpster. (Brilliant.) A few years later, he was on a work release program (!??) and walked away. He made his way to Maryland, where he assaulted a woman and beat up her live-in boyfriend, and raped her while he watched. After he was tried in Maryland, Massachusetts authorities asked that he be remanded to Massachusetts to face trial for escape. The Maryland judge refused, stating that he could not be sure that Massachusetts could be trusted to keep him in custody to serve out his sentence in Maryland. He is still in prison in Maryland.

BTW, that “racist” Willie Horton advertisement was not the work of Karl Rove, or any Republican, it was produced and aired by the Al Gore’s campaign during the 1988 primary season to use against Dukakis.

When he was acting in “The Great Escape” with David McCallum, Bronson told McCallum, “I’m going to marry your wife.” And then he did!

Oh, in that case, we'll let you out!

After all, you were just "going through a phase."

Willy Horton really happened. Like OJ the issue was race not murder. I miss Lee Atwater. Unfortunately he apologized on hi deathbed to Dukakis.
