People keep dogging the Uvalde and I think people need to understand the differences.
Population in Uvalde is a 20th of Nashville
The high profile artists reside in Nashville. Uvalde, none. Deer hunters, ranchers.
So, with the two above statements, Nashville in my opinion had way more training than boots in Uvalde.
Lastly. The white shirts in Uvalde called the shots to stand down. It was not the boots. They were ready to go.
With all this said, FR needs to back off on the criticism of Uvalde boots and apply the blame where it is deserved
Because they were told to stand down by the white shirts.
Only cowards there that day was the shooter and white shirts. So get off of the boots on ground and quit calling them cowards.

I imagine NMP and police forces all over the country will be studying these videos for some time to come. It looks to me like NMP response was very professional and successful. I bet good police forces nationwide will be analyzing the videos for “lessons learned” to improve tactics.
As for comparison with Uvalde, the stupid school district police had jurisdiction in Uvalde. I was shocked to discover how many school districts in this country have their own police forces instead of relying their city or county LEOs, and, like in Uvalde, they answer to the school superintendent, not the local police chief/sheriff. Parents need to check into the situation in their own school districts and demand change as needed.
These videos will likely also be analyzed by schools in conjunction with LE to improve security. Many have mentioned how easily the mass murderer shot her way through those glass doors. On the other hand, it looks like the school’s active shooter plan worked fairly well. Again, parents need to get involved, check out the security in their kids’ schools and active shooter plans.
It’s so very sad we even need to think about such things, but it’s today’s reality.
Yes, it’s possible these videos might inspire future would-be mass shooters, but it seems they find plenty of inspiration on the dark web anyway. And might deter others. Such things are impossible to know, and I don’t have a crystal ball. On balance, releasing the videos could well be for the best — inspiring parents and school staff to do their best to make sure security and LE response are the best they can be to protect the children.
I am in awe at the bravery of these officers. It’s also obvious their training and experience played a big part, too. Excellent teamwork.
I’ve been playing first-person/third-person shooters for over 20 years now, and the thought of shooting someone scares me.

I see the advantages, on paper, of a school district police force. Unlike relying on city/County/state police, those officers would work every day in the schools and know all the ins and outs, layouts, etc. Whereas an officer who is not in there on a daily basis, or just respond to the occasional call, they may only know where the front offices.
The problem lies in the command structure, and what happens as we saw in you all day as the chief reports to the superintendent and potential conflict of interest in certain situations
It seems to me that school district police, aside from the chain-of-command problem, also simply don’t have the experience of dealing with dangerous situations on an almost daily basis like regular police do.
You can see in the video that the officers who responded to the Nashville school were not only well-trained, they were experienced and used to working as a team in a high-threat situation. School district officers simply can’t have that kind of experience and teamwork. It’s like the difference between green soldiers and hardened battle-tested troops in war. Which do you want when there are bullets flying?
The school was also prepared: the woman standing outside to hand keys to the cops, for example. That looked planned in advance, and perhaps even practiced in advance. Sure beats the Uvalde cops dithering over keys while children were murdered.
Nashville seems to have a sort of hybrid plan:
They have unarmed school “safety ambassadors” employed by the school district, plus police resource officers who are employed by the police department and answer to the police chief inside some schools, and also regular police patrolling around school areas to respond quickly in case of an active shooter or similar threat to kids’ safety.
The hybrid model Nashville uses might be the best way, at least it looks that way to me. Of course the small private Christian school did not have a “safety ambassador” or school resource officer, but as best I understand, had worked with police to form their active shooter plan.
The hybrid model looks like a good place to start. The advantage of district police is they know the buildings, and if a dispatcher have access to CCTV they might be able to give a exact or much closer location and they would know say third door on the right, 2nd floor off the main stairs, etc. However, that only helps if they have keys and proper training as you said.
If that is not possible, a staff member, as we saw here, who could advise police upon arrival, but still requires a bit of searching in a unfamiliar building. Always room for discussion and and improvement.
What confuses me the most in Uvalde is how the school police, who are district employees didn’t have keys/key cards or what ever was used. Did every officer need full sets, maybe not. However access to some secure lock box(s) outside the school or the dispatcher being able to remotely unlock exterior doors on their arrival would speed up the entry process.
I would have liked screaming from the perp but it was good anyway.
Or they’re showing the consequences.
