A trans woman was born a man. A trans man was born a woman. The media is calling the shooter a trans woman. If they are using their language right, that’s in fact a man. But I think everyone is a bit confused on these BS labels.
Born female, still female. No such thing as “trans”.

When I was young this “trans woman” “Toni” would wander all around town causing issues… he finally died from acute alcohol poisoning. Sad, really.
I used to be confused by them, but saw a way to make it clear.
Substitute the word “fake” for “trans”.
Trans woman = fake woman (biological man)
Trans man = fake man (biological woman)
It’s been crystal clear to me once I started doing that..
