The story says the shooter was an alumus of the school, which runs pre-K through sixth grade. That means he left about age 12, so about 16 years ago. That’s a looooong time to be away and then return to kill.
Several theories come to mind, but it’s best just to wait and see.

I used to go to a PCA church - TWO of the elders had kids go trans - not sure what’s going on with leadership in PCA, but Tim Keller has certainly neutered masculinity in the church.
