Well, I’m gonna leave that 2nd part alone...
This incident really hits home. There have been two school shootings with over 3 killed, in this area, in the last ~25 years. My wife teaches (early grade level) at a local parochial elementary school. And my daughter goes to the high school. The side doors are “pretty good” but I don’t know if they’d hold up to a serious attack. Something I imagine the admin are thinking about, but I may make an inquiry anyway.
How many of the staff have any real proficiency with firearms, I don’t know. I’m guessing 3 or 4 at most. I know 3 or 4 of the junior & senior guys are hunters, but...
3 or more killed each time, plus several wounded.
It’s rough, hitting places is like a Russian bomb hitting a Ukrainian apartment. Some cheer it, some fear it.
Violence is a part of life, and I wish it weren’t so. You have to try to curtail it at the front side when it comes to major attacks, I think.
In these situations I’d lean more towards having a good defense, someone that can shoot back. For the most part, ‘shooting to stop the threat’ is how cops think. They may have something there, even though cops are often offensive and a part of the violence thing.
