AND-—FROM 1980 to 2004, I was self-employed-—so I paid BOTH parts since I was both employee & employer.
I paid out 15.3% of my income-—and I never made more than $20 an hour-—BUT I DID WORK ALOT OF HOURS.
For every $20 of income-—I got to keep $16.94....
NO OVERTIME PAY
NO PAID VACATIONS
NO PAID HOLIDAYS
NO PAID SICK DAYS
NO RETIREMENT BENEFITS
NO HEALTH CARE BENEFITS——I paid those premiums
That story sounds very familiar.
The one that would send me over the roof was when people learned I was self-employed and said, “Oh, that must be nice being able to take vacation anytime you want to.” Supreme dolts. Just simply stupid.
