Maternity wards are closing everywhere because of a lack of babies; the media desperately want to make it a story about abortion bans
Washington Examiner ^ | March 22, 2023 | Timothy P. Carney

It’s the perfect headline for the major media’s preferred narrative, which means two things: Nearly every outlet will pick it up, and it’s mostly bogus.

“So many doctors are being driven away by Idaho abortion ban that this hospital can’t deliver babies anymore,” one headline about Bonner General in Bonner County, Idaho, declared.

“Idaho hospital to stop delivering babies as doctors flee over abortion ban,” the Guardian said. “Near-total ban on abortions is driving doctors away, hospital says, leading to lack of nearby labor and delivery care for thousands.”

The Today Show reported it this way: “Idaho hospital closes its maternity ward, citing the state’s ‘political climate.’ Idaho has a strict abortion ban. People living in Sandpoint, Idaho will now have to drive at least 46 miles to find the nearest hospital offering perinatal care.”

The Washington Post mentioned the other relevant factors in this one hospital's closure but still misleadingly classified this as an “abortion” story. A dozen other outlets all carried this story about a rural hospital's closure. This is the sort of story they never would carry under normal circumstances, if it didn't give them an opportunity to spread abortion propaganda.

Maternity wards have been closing all over the United States for more than a decade, primarily for a simple reason: People have been having fewer babies every year since 2007. There were fewer children in America at the 2020 census than there were in the 2010 census. Of course, a country with less maternity will be a country with fewer maternity wards.

Rural maternity wards have been especially hard-hit, in part because the economics of labor and delivery are particularly off-kilter.

Next door to Idaho, in completely abortion-friendly Washington state, Astria Toppenish Hospital closed its maternity ward three days before Christmas last year.

Conservatives can ‘win the future’ by having 4+ kids each. No excuses folks.

So they are implying that the same doctors deliver babies and commit abortions? That's like having a car service garage also serving as a stolen car chop shop.

I've heard that most doctors, even in abortion celebrating states, consider abortionists as the very lowest rung of the medical ladder. Abortionists are either doctors one step away from losing their licenses or ideologues who just love killing rather than healing.

Won’t matter if we are replacing Americans with tens of millions of illegals. Already our country is unrecognizable.

Re: Win the Future

Conservatives can only do this if they keep those 4+ kids out of the government K-12 schools and Communist-run universities.

One of the side effects of the Covid scare is a lack of human interaction. That means less babies. Some reports also say the Jab leads to infertility.

Agenda 21 anyone?

I wouldn’t want a hired assassin to deliver my wife’s babies anyway.

That is how “other” cultures are playing it in order to make America theirs. We are VERY late to the game. It Would help if we stopped kneecapping our best players and more people understood the longterm strategy of the game...But no. Not pretty but pretty simple.

I read somewhere that at present rates, half the country will be Amish by 2100.

Put maternity wards on the 1st floor of empty high-rise office buildings. Top floors for 1st graders on down(schools). Grow vegetables on other floors. The transportation system is in place(cities). They won’t have to be spread out. The building will soon be cheap to buy.

Birth rates rose meaningfully in 2021 and 2022. Work from home policies led to more “time together” for couples and the result was a baby boomlet.

One of our local hospitals closed their L&D unit. They would go days without a patient. It was near impossible to retain staff. And this is at a Catholic based facility—no abortions going on there.

The small, local hospitals are dying pretty quickly. Staffing is a bear—even for med/surg units.

Go to Tucson - the Maternity Wards there are over whelmed with Non-English speaking anchor babies.

They all get a US Birth Certificate for crossing the border

NO WAY! Are you just pining for more ignorant citizens to clean your house, mow your lawn, and take jobs our kids could do?

And we need 400-500 million people in the US? We were a thriving country with 200-250 million. Now we have increasingly crowded cities and filth everywhere.

The low IQ sperminators, pouring in from the former southern border, require very little sleep.

It’s about the unreported genocide from maternity wards. Think calcified placentas. Abortion, live birth, and DOA statistics are being hidden from us. In the Bay Area, CA, one area is showing a 20x increase in infant mortality, and aborted fetuses show abnormal development.
