Instead of just requiring police to establish that there are no communication issues, McGee's attaorney is demanding that all arrested individuals should be provided an attorney immediately on entering jail.

Webber said that McGee's ordeal could have been avoided if the city would commit to guaranteeing free defense attorneys to people when they are brought to the jail, a process known as "counsel at first appearance," or CAFA. "If Travis County and the city of Austin had instituted counsel at first appearance, every single person involved would have realized that Karen McGee does not belong in jail," Webber said. "This case, in my opinion, is Exhibit A for why Travis County and the city need to stop saying they can't put CAFA in place."

The guy has an agenda, and he is going to stick to it.

Police everywhere should be trained on how to communicate with people who can’t hear well. Hearings aids do not work as well as ears, so just because a person has them doesn’t mean his hearing is back to normal.

Many years ago, there were cases of students at Gaulladet University being killed by police due to lack of communications.

Films and TV shows showing deaf people understanding without seeing the speaker’s face are not helpful!!!!!
