"The New York proposal, should it pass, would not impact existing homes"

Sure it would... bet on it.

Of course it would have an impact on existing homes. Can you afford your gas bill if it goes up 300%, due to having fewer customers buying gas?

I’ve heard that professional chefs prefer gas stoves to electric. Apparently easier to control.

This surprises me because there are huge numbers of “democrats” who oppose this. They care little for what republicans think in NY.

It is really stupid when you look at the “scientific reasoning” for this.

I have been waiting now for many years for the global warming due to CO2 delusion to finally go away. I’m waiting, and waiting... and I’m getting old.

I am glad they are doing it. I hope they ban gas vehicles soon too. And wood stoves. I hope New York leads the way in reducing their carbon footprint. Although here is what I can’t figure out - how do you brag about being The City That Never Sleeps - while preaching the opposite? If serious, wouldn’t you just go to bed by 10 PM, and turn out all the lights?

The last Republican governor left office in 2006 (Pataki)

The Assembly has been firmly Democrat for at least the last 35 years.

The only check on leftist/progressive power was the NY State Senate, which was solidly GOP until 2008, where it bounced back and forth until 2019.

Since then its been, and will firmly remain, in Democrat hands, with increasing majorities.

So NY is a one-party state, like California, so neo-marxists will increasingly push their schemes.

Saw an appliance store TV ad for a deluxe gas stove.
So all the stores and warehouses will lose money as people shy away from the dying out gas stoves.

Along with the manufacturers and distributors losing money. And the unnatural disruption of the energy supply based on mandate, not on needs.

The Left never lets the people have freedom to choose or the market forces to work on their own. They demand something and threaten those who say no.

Car companies could have been told they must drop stick shifts when automatic transmissions came in. They let most people choose them instead.

Screw New York. Natural gas is a beautiful natural energy.

Seeing as the NY State Legislature is made up of a 2 to 1 ratio in favor of the Democrats, this will probably pass, and Skeletor Hochul will sign it.

There are things like this that make me suspect that there is something pulling the strings behind the scenes on this energy BS that we don’t see.

Something bigger and more unified and organized than California Leftist legislators and NY Leftist legislators simply playing copycat to demonstrate who is more Leftist.

There is a more organized war against energy, being orchestrated behind the scenes.

This is insane banning a useful functional appliance for WHAT REASON??? They should have to logically justify such an extreme thing before they can do it. Where the hell does government get such power?

So what gives any state the right to ban gas stoves? I wonder if a taxpayer revolt would change anything?

Morons. New York sits atop of two of the world’s largest reserves of natural gas - Marcellus and Utica shale formations - and they won’t take advantage of the inexpensive energy God has provided them. Instead they rather eliminate people’s freedom of choice.

Decreeing stupid is the tool of tyrants. Our founding fathers knew exactly what needed to be done to tyrants. Seems like freedom loving New Yorkers should take similar action.

OK. So Joe Blow purchases a new home that MUST have no gas range. Tell the GenCon to skip it and install no Range. When all is done and occupancy begins, call up a propane supplier and make the install date one day after Lowe’s delvers/installs your new gas range.

Almost sounds like the EU sanctioning Russian gas on the people. New Yorker’s better rejoice about this or uni-bomber Biden will blow up some more pipelines.

New York nears deal creating first ban in the country on gas stoves for new homes.

New York suffers a mass exodus of culinary chefs.
