Actually closer to the early 40’s.
Unions had great power. People were questioning
whether John L. Lewis ran the country or
Roosevelt. You’d be surprised how
many labor unions went on strike during WW2.
Mostly over $$, but sometimes over hiring or
promotions of blacks.
Factories making tanks and planes, steel mills
and coal mines went on strike during a war!!! Was a constant headache for Roosevelt.
