Nazism, i.e., fascism, is based on central-planning of the economy, but with some privately-owned industry that is heavily-regulated by the state. Under communism the state owns and controls everything: the people, industry, the land ... everything. Both are central-planners, which is the opposite of republicanism. Leftists, such as Hitler, Stalin, democrats, labor unions — leftists generally — despise republicanism.
