Whoopi Goldberg is once again coming under fire for uttering something controversial on The View, and just issued an apology for using an ethnic slur on-air. Last week, the talk show co-host, 67, was speaking about the 2020 presidential election with her co-stars, and said a slur that is commonly used against Romani people.
While discussing the Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels scandal, she referenced “people who still believe that he got gy—d somehow in the election.” After fans on Twitter stressed the importance of not using the slur, Goldberg quickly took to the app to apologize to viewers.

I imagine she would feel no need to apologize for using the words “welch”, “scotch” or “slave”, despite the ethnic bias that they betray.
Not to mention the racial slur used to describe haggling over the price of an object.
We used to have some Gypsys come through here in my teen years. They even referred to themselves as Gypsys.
The whole gypsy thing somehow was one of the very first things you couldn’t say, outside all the black stuff. I don’t know how it happened, it must’ve been secret underground, because next thing I know you can’t say you got “gypped” back in the ‘90s.
Honestly I’m sick of all this cancel culture over words. I’d like I’d the communists would cancel people over actually rioting and looting and thugging, but they are always more worried about damned words than actions.
And from the stories out of PA, it seems that gypsy thing is well earned.
I don’t know what romani people are, not the slur gy... Did she mean Romni people? Mit can go gy... Himself.
Anecdotally, my parents rented a house to a Gypsie family. They stripped the place, even took the built-in appliances.
So she’s a racist, like anyone didn’t know.
I would trust a Gypsy before I would trust the “Williams Family” of con artists.
Some tried to sell me “gravel for my driveway” quite a few years ago. I didn’t bite.
Ludicrous.
Gypped is old fashioned but has no ulterior meaning.
I’ve known that term my whole life and never associated with Gypsies.

I’ve used “Gypped” since the 50s, and still do.

Thanks.
I never linked the 2 together either. Never heard anyone else make that reference before Whoopsie made it a thing.
I see Yahoo is recycling almost two week-old news and making it sound in the title like it is a new incident.
You know what the Nazis did to Gypsies. That makes Whoopi a Nazi! 😂
.
You can always depend on Hannity to rush in and defend h hi is girl, Whoopi Goldberg - and to defend and try to rehab Mike Pence.
Like clockwork
.
That was the “ethnic” slur? Our country sucks-—the woking dead eventually eat their own.
Much ado about nothing...
Today, everything is associated with race...
Enough already...
Same here,. Gypsies. Gypped. There. I said it. So shoot me already.
