Gilead has long offered a discount card that could make at least some of their HIV medications free to patients.
Trump made it a priority of his administration to reduce and eliminate new HIV infections by making prep free and widely available. HIV is costly (and a health risk factor even for undetectable cases) and since the Left has decriminalize knowingly and deceptively infecting another person with HIV, there needs to be a counter to that injustice.
This is sound public policy. Of course not everyone can take PREP meds due to side effects. Withholding PREP won’t stop the transmission of HIV or other STIs but PREP can reduce healthcare costs overall.
Total BS. Reducing risk only increases risky behavior by creating a false sense of safety. The exponential increase in other STD's to all-time record rates during the past decade is proof of that. And the presence of STD's, particularly syphilis and gonorrhea, greatly increase the chances of contracting HIV. It's a vicious cycle which has proven fulfillment.
If the government tried to reduce the incidences of head shots due to people playing Russian roulette by providing them with 10-shooters to replace their 6-shooter revolvers, more people would conceivably play, or the ones now playing would play more, for monetary gain. The net result is that more people would likely die even though the risk has been reduced.
