By a Presidential decree of the Russian president dated 22 August 1991, RIA Novosti was placed within the competence of the Press and Information Ministry. The Russian State government owns MIA Rossiya Segodnya or Russia Today, which operates RIA Novosti. Advertising generates revenue.
RIA Novosti is Biased and Questionable.
This is based on the promotion of state propaganda, numerous false claims, use of poor sources, and failed fact checks.
