A new Senate report found that drug shortages in the U.S. are increasing in frequency and duration, due to over-reliance on foreign countries like China and India, which is posing national security concerns.

The report from the Democrat-led Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs provided a damning indictment of the U.S. government’s ability to predict drug shortages and address them effectively. It also laid out troubling statistics on the rate of drug shortages.

Does the esteemed Senate panel think that the abundant supply of fentanyl is a national security threat?

Cancer drugs too.

From another article:

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/patients-health-care-providers-face-shortages-critical-drugs/story?id=98018805

While the Senate report highlights a variety of shortages, it points specifically to shortages of Vincristine, a critical adult and pediatric chemotherapy drug used to treat various types of cancer with no alternative treatment, and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), an immunotherapy biologic drug used to treat bladder cancer.

Here’s a link to the FDA drug shortage list, there’s a lot of them.

Along with all our other manufacturing we outsourced our pharmaceuticals to China and India too, now we can’t make anything here. But hey, it’s cheaper than making them here & the stock price went up so everything’s good, right? We’re a service economy now anyways, everybody’s making money in the financial sector so why should the US actually manufacture anything when we can buy it from China for pennies on the dollar and resell it for $1500 for a month’s supply?

Who’d have ever thunk that outsourcing the manufacture of all the medications that it takes to keep our people alive to our biggest enemy might be a bad idea? After all, pharmaceutical companies are the biggest donors to congress and they say it’s a good thing, who are we to argue? God forbid our government might do something as radical as require critical industries like pharmaceuticals to be made in the US, that would be anti-capitalist. The guys who hired congressman X’s daughter for that million dollar a year consulting job might not like it.

Well, when you’re giving medical drugs to every Tom, Dick and Harry who wades across El Rio Grande free of charge, something has to give.

There are shortages of lots of things.
I have noticed a lots of empty shelves in my grocery store.
Many car parts are on backorder.
I am not sure if the formula is finally back?!

I’ve got a woman friend who has been living with 400+ blood sugar levels for the past six weeks because she can’t get her diabetes prescription filled. Last week she experienced a “mini-stroke” that was attributed to that.

Takes me 20mins to lay them out, in morning & evening rows, on a blue napkin, daily. Not much fun...

Enserio? I pray you stay safe-a mere speck of just about any of those meds-starting with Valium-would mean a trip to the ER and possible death for me, my sibling and several other relatives-we are reactive to many/most drugs-seems to be an inherited trait in the DNA-maternal side of the family. I don’t even take OTC aspirin-I do take as many/more vitamins/supplements as you do with no ill effects.

Pardon my asking-but have you had any bad reactions due to drug interaction or allergic reaction?

LOL! One of the guys I went to college with used to bring out handfuls of pills at every concert we went to, saying come and get your fruit salad right here-when I saw how whacked out stoned some of my friends got-I was glad I could honestly abstain because of being drug reactive...
