I think KY passed a law requiring the replacement of a senator or congress critter had to be from the same party as the one that was being replaced. Tied the rat governor’s hands on appointing a rat to a seat held be a fake Republican.

SB 228 puts 3 choices in front of whoever is the Goobernor. In any list of 3, Beshear would find the dog, there's no way around this, the obvious list would be Comer, Cameron, and Massie? But Miotch isn't Massie's biggest fan, so would you punt Hal Rogers as the retirement pick, ie, Hal would agree not to run for re-election? The other problem is, this law which has never been challenged, would be challenged by the Democrats, and while it might clear Federal District, if by some rando you caught the two Clintonites on the 6th Circuit, you could potentially wait for SCOTUS to intervene. If you have a GOP Goobernor, you avoid this problem, as no Democrat would have standing to challenge.
