Four Republican leaders of House and Senate foreign relations and armed services committees are urging President Joe Biden to waive a ban on cluster bombs and send them to Ukraine to help them beat back Russia.
The request was made in a letter to Biden from Sens. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, and Roger Wicker, R-Miss., ranking members of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees, and Reps. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and Mike Rogers, R-Ala., chairs of the House Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees, according to reports.
"We write to urge you to immediately provide cluster munitions, such as dual purpose improved conventional munitions (DPICM), to the Ukrainian Armed forces," the letter, posted to Twitter and reported by Politico, began.

Yes I understand it. The Ukrainians want cluster bombs from us to deploy from drones against Russian armor etc.
The Republican politicians mentioned want to provide them in order to keep extending the war and their profits as long as possible. There is a lot of money to be made when two kleptocracies fight it out. If you play your financial cards right, you can profit from both sides of the equation.
If you understand then why do you keep thinking they want to use cluster bombs?
They want to take them apart and use the individual bomblets themselves.
That means we don’t have to pay to destroy the unused munitions and we also get the benefit of them destroying Russian capabilities.
Ukraine is A CRIMINAL COUNTRY, they cannot be trusted to do the right thing.
Then why couldn’t we take them apart before we send them, if they only want them as individual bomblets?

You have a good point, I am sure bomblets are significantly cheaper than the package as a hole. No only that but we would mot be giving them the tech which can be resold to our enemies.
That might be more complicated than it looks being explosives and such, it may not be anywhere close to being as simple as doing it in a foreign country.
