BTW, there’s a saying, “A grand jury could indicte a ham sandwich.”

Don’t know how the grand jury process got to where it is today, but basically it is a one-sided process where ONLY the prosecutors and their witnesses are present. There is no defense present, no cross-examination of witnesses, and no judge. The DA has ONLY to prove probable cause to arrest and charge.

If it is a corrupt indictment, it is almost certainly because the DA presented a corrupt layout to the grand jury. The grand jury takes what is given to them and decides.

Not sure this was the original way grand juries were held, but it is how they are held now.

Basically, don’t blame the men and women of the grand jury for a corrupt indictment, blame the DA.

Grand Juries were formed to prevent corrupt prosecutors from rail roading innocent people in kangaroo court prosecution and star chamber justice

This has flipped 180 degrees.

Now Grand Juries are used to allow partisan prosecutors to form equally partisan juries to rail road innocent people in politically motivated law fare prosecution against people with political and ideological dissent

The jury can cross examine witnesses and ask questions. They can also vote no-bill. Defendants can be present. I was in a Grand jury where just that happened. After the testimony of the husband and wife that were being sought after for an indictment we voted for no bill. The Asst DA was PISSED!

It was a political prosecution that a majority of us saw thru.
