Xi arrives in Russia to stand with Putin against West amid Ukraine war
The Washington Post ^ | March 20, 2023 | Francesca Ebel and Lily Kuo

Chinese leader Xi Jinping landed in Russia on Monday for a much-anticipated three-day state visit, taking a joint stand with President Vladimir Putin against the West even as the Russian leader stands accused by the International Criminal Court of war crimes in Ukraine.

The two men, each positioned as “leader for life” of a nuclear power, celebrated their “no limits” relationship in Beijing together in early 2022, just weeks before Putin ordered his full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and they have met about 40 times. But Monday’s visit, the first by Xi since the invasion, represents a display of tacit support by China for the war and a personal triumph for Putin, who is eager to show he is not isolated on the international stage.

Xi’s plane arrived at Vnukovo International Airport just southwest of the Russian capital at approximately 1 p.m. local time Monday. The presidential motorcade then made its way to the center of Moscow, where dozens of people waving Chinese and Russian flags greeted the delegation outside his hotel, the Soluxe Hotel in the north of the city. Initial talks were scheduled to begin in the afternoon, followed by a dinner later with Putin.

We can neutralize the combined threat by imposing more sanctions since they worked so well in the past. /sarc

These nations aren’t natural allies. The Democrats and neocons have pushed them into bed together.

Like Hitler and Stalin in 1939.

China wants to stand with Russia? Then it’s time to end trade with China. It’s also time to kick them out of our colleges and universities with their Confucious Institutes.

LOL. End trade with China and go to the factory line to crank out stuff for $2 an hour to replace it.

The USA is now a shadow of its former great self. Once the leader of the free world with peace through strength. Now our "leaders" prioritize sodomy, border crashers,a creepy Ukraine leader and windmills over everything else. The world sees this it seems more and more we stand alone. All the while the perverted monster in the Oval Office smiles about it all.

“a display of tacit support by China for the war and a personal triumph for Putin, who is eager to show he is not isolated on the international stage.”

Xi, on the other hand, is hitching his wagon to a character whose diplomatic favorability score is hovering close to that of herpes.

China is already seeing some divestment, as well as increased defense spending among potential enemies (”the West”), as a result of mobilization against the Russian threat.

Just as Xi Jingpin arrived to Moscow, the news broke 9 Chinese nationals were killed when an armed group stormed the Chimbolo gold mine in the Central African Republic.

The Russian Wagner Group is accused of having been behind the attack together with a local rebel group.

Why would China seize Siberia? Xi gets all the natural resources for free now as Russia’s ally? Same with Taiwan. In Time Taiwan will vote to join China without a shot being fired. The world has a choice—look to China to bring peace to Ukraine (and humble the USA) or China will keep sending stuff to Russia for years and years. Putin couldn’t lose if he tried. Only loser here is the USA—thanks Brandon you made the world safe for Chinese rule.

"Say good bye to Siberia, Vlad."

@Tendar 3h

China lost the Amur/Primorye regions in the 19th century against imperial Russia. It is the only territory still under control by a foreign imperial power which formerly belonged to Qing-China.

The names of (current) Russian cities in Chinese are also interesting.

You might have never heard of cities called "Khaishenvai", "Boli" or "Shuangchenzi" as well as the island of "Quedao", because that are the official names according the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources for Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Ussuriysk and Sakhalin, "newly" introduced (as official by the Chinese Government).
