To avoid lawsuits? I was told that if they had to perform surgery or administer medication, they wanted to be absolutely certain you were the right patient. Hence the repeated questioning.
There are cases of doctors doing surgery on the wrong patient.

Just like when I e-check in online the day before and they ask me the questions again at the front desk when I show up. If the e-check in works, as I believe it does, they should be out of a job.
Lastly after 12 years with my primary doctor he and his nurses might just know it’s me.
