With Trump already calling for protests on a specific day, chances are very good he's already agreed to show up and turn himself in for a quick booking, and quick bailout.
I definitely believe this is an overreach of prosecutorial discretion, but honestly don't think a long trial involving porn stars will gather him the sort of sympathy he thinks it will. That type of lifestyle is frowned on by most true conservatives, whether he's innocent of this particular charge or not. Therefore, it's probably a wash when it comes to the political fallout.

Trump was likely the best president we’ve had, at least since Reagan. He did a great job and could have done better if not for the D opposition and RINOs.
I couldn’t care less what Trump did with some ho 15 years ago or whenever... I care that HE cares about the USA
