Our guest on this week's #SWYSI is author & Unherd columnist Mary Harrington, author of the new book: Feminism Against Progress. Harrington argues that the industrial-era faith in progress is turning against all but a tiny elite of women. Women’s liberation was less the result of human moral progress than an effect of the material consequences of the Industrial Revolution.
We’ve now left the industrial era for the age of AI, biotech and all-pervasive computing. As a result, technology is liberating us from natural limits and embodied sex differences. Although this shift benefits a small class of successful professional women, it also makes it easier to commodify women’s bodies, human intimacy and female reproductive abilities.
This is a stark warning against a dystopian future whereby poor women become little more than convenient sources of body parts to be harvested and wombs to be rented by the rich. Progress has now stopped benefiting the majority of women, and only a feminism that is sceptical of it can truly defend female interests in the 21st century.

I found the interview to be intriguing. Mary Harrington, a leftist, has become very critical of feminism. Feminism now serves elite, successful women and not those further down on the economic scale. She believes that men need their own spaces back, especially poor men. She also puts the desire to erase sexual differences into perspective.
Eventually the Amish and the Mormons will take over this nation due to demographics.
Feminism now supports men in dresses over actual women. Hard pass.
I don’t recall a point in history where women have been more exploited or debased than our current era. Feminism may not be entirely to blame, but it certainly wasn’t helped. I also blame the abdication of men from their traditional roles.
The feminist movement began in the universities so it was always geared to promotion of the elites, at least women who already had the ability to get a good education and achieve.
It was taken up by all classes of women although it had little to offer most of them. It has caused a lot of poverty in older women who never married due to a belief in feminism.
And every women who perpetrates this hell deserves every painful day they ezperience.
Why aren’t all those women libbers screaming now that all the alleged women’s sports organizations are allowing phony women aka transgenders ruin their sports.
“Women’s’ Liberation” was driven by the needs of the Left to increase the tax base, allowing them to make the huge expansion of government they wanted (and got).
My heart bleeds peanut butter for them.

Women’s liberation destroyed men as well as women.
It told men they were no longer necessary as primary bread winners—and a lot of men started to believe them.
Then education and large employers began discriminating against men in the name of “affirmative action”. While the most talented and skilled men made it through ok, average guys saw their standard of living and status dropping.
Don’t blame the victims.
As Rush (RIP) said, Women’s Liberation was about giving unattractive women access to the mainstream of society.
The 19th amendment wasn’t a good idea... neither for men and nor for women.
