The Republican party does not want Trump to be President.
Never did.
Never will.
By refusing to place the name of an “under indictment” candidate on its primary election ballots, no way he gets the nomination. Remember, the party can make up whatever rules it wants for its primaries.
Now if, as some here have opined, DeSantis refuses to sign extradition papers, that would be even more reason for the GOP to exclude Trump from the primaries. They would brand him a “fugitive”
Just because he bought the “R” brand in 2015, does not mean he has the backing of the hierarchy of the party. The Committee sold it to him for the purpose of playing the foil for JEB. Things didn’t turn out that way, and even though they’re known as “the stupid party”, that mistake will not be repeated.
