He had years of active duty as well, starting with 7 of them before going into the Guard and being called back to active duty from the Guard, and then later from the reserves.

Thanks for clarifying, you’re right. However, his entire service as a JAG does little to burnish his tactical/strategic credentials.

I’m hardly a military expert, though I was ADA for 8 years: Platoon Leader, XO, Battery Commander. Never served beyond battalion level, just fine by me.
