I thought paid leave for any reason was called “vacation”. Silly me.
I’m sick of work...
I don’t see this going well.
Well that should really help stem the flight of employers leaving behind the Land of Lincoln.
My reason for paid leave is I have no reason for my “reason”....
I think that light at the end of the tunnel is a train...
“Employees can start using the time once they have worked for 90 days.”
I demand a week’s paid leave due to the stress of not having worked here long enough to earn it.
I’ve never worked a job where I had to give a reason for using vacation/personal time, or comp time. In fact, I think it would be very unusual for an employer to demand a reason for taking time off that was due an employee.
Hardest hit: small businesses, as likely increases in expenses can less readily be absorbed. Those expenses will likely be a greater percentage of their budgets than for larger businesses.
Hence, this Pritzker action puts small businesses at a disadvantage as well as a smile on his face.
This is a continuation of the Communist agenda, culling more workers into fewer, bigger companies where they can with less effort be controlled.
It’s also a continuation of one of the clear goals of ginned-up lockdowns, through which there was a doubling of the number of small business closures.
So 2.5% cost increase (plus markup for payroll taxes) dictated by a communist government, along with even less reliability of workforce. Why not 1 hour of work for very 40 hours of paid leave?
Illinois employers should decamp to non-fascist states.
It’s no wonder state governments need twice the workforce as a private industry doing the same thing. Normally I’d be fine with it, except state taxpayers have to pay for this crap workforce.
Here comes the race to the bottom. HELLINOIS employers who offer two weeks of PTO yearly, for example will now do the state minimum.
Here's what's going to happen:
Employee: Boss, I'd like to take my two weeks off during July this year. That ok?
Boss: Nope. Hellinois now says I only have to give you one hour for every 40 hours worked. You work 40 hours/week, so now you only get 52 hours paid time off. In case you don't know it, that's 6 days and 4 hours. Schedule accordingly.
WTG JB FATASS PRICKSTER & the HELLINOIS State Legislature! You did it! You screwed workers over again!
Hello, you have reached the . . . . but there is not one here to take your call. We are all on vacation. Call back, uh, never mind - don’t call back.
What a cluster...
“I have an eye problem. I can’t see going to work today.”
Every floating holiday and vacation day benefit has just been eliminated in Illinois.
In grown toe nail
I would have to fire all my employees.
Don't show up for work, whenever you feel like it, and still get paid (in government, more than half the people can stay home, and now work product is impacted or missed.)
Almost on a par with a "Government Shutdown", where government employees ALL get back pay, when the "crisis" ends.
Remember how all State, County, City, and Federal employees that were "Non-Essential" stayed home during the Pandemic, and all lived on the taxpayers' dime, losing NO PAY or benefits?
Effectively a 2.6% (40/39) pay increase.
