LOLOL, there aren't enough tax professionals to "go after" the wealthy. It's a very specific skill set, demanding incredible attention to detail, and knowledge of hundreds of IRS regulations.

These 87,000 new agents? I'm on the floor laughing my rear off. They will be hired on the basis of diversity, not their education or work experience. They'll be started off as GS-7s, the equivalent grade to that of a 2nd Lieutenant. They will be trained by supervisors who have screwed up the IRS in the first place.

I predict it will take at least a year to teach them the rudimentary aspects of their jobs. IOW, it's going to be a massive $hit Show.

Who doesn’t love the IRS! Everyone loves tax season and making sure they don’t make one tiny mistake they don’t even know about and get audited.

I'm in my first tax season at a large real estate company. My boss warned me about the "issues" we have to deal with, and he's nailed it. For example, we don't get the documents we need from our properties: bank recs, general ledgers, supporting documents, etc. We have about 100 partnership returns to complete, to say we're behind is an understatement.

However, I love it there, and I'm holding out hope that next tax season will be better.

You're going to need 870,000 agents to go after the billionaires, and we aren't talking about newbs, either. We're talking about agents with a minimum of 5 years experience doing 1065s, 1120s, 990s, and bad ass 1040s. They aren't out there.

I was hired by my company in October. The HR director's nickname for me is "the unicorn". It took them 8 months to hire someone like me with corporate tax experience, and these returns are kicking my ass, with all their complexities.

These agents wont go after the super wealthy and they know it.

The super wealthy have accountants and tax lawyers and use all legal loopholes put in by rich politicians, to reduce their tax burdens.

They are going after middle class and lower class people.

Its the mentality behind asset forfeiture laws. The rich dont get hammered by asset forfeiture. The average business guy transferring cash for a business purchase/deal, or taking it to a bank, are the ones that get boned.
