You really are fascinated with articles from a year ago, when Putin’s failing invasion was one month old. Those were the glory weeks, right fanatical Putin Stooge?

It appears Max Boot, a Neocon of the 1st Order, is getting out in front of the political Death Cult he helped to promote.

A shocking turn of events. Max Boot was not only Promotor-in-Chief of the Iraq war, he was one of the Ukraine war's biggest cheerleaders. Why the change of heart?

"We should be arming the Ukrainians like crazy." - Max Boot, 25 January 2022

"The Russo-Ukraine war is a battle between good and evil. It is inconceivable that any liberal democracy could fail to take Ukraine’s side. " - Max Boot, 13 April 2022

"We need to understand that this isn't their war in Ukraine—it's our war—and we need to do more to defeat Russia's attack on the West." - Max Boot, 22 June 2022

Russia had not always been an enemy of the US.

Prior to the Bolshevik Revolution, Russian and US relations were cordial even at times almost allied. For example, during the Civil War the Russian fleet was allowed safe warm water harboring both in US Eastern ports and in the West (San Fransico). Russia, France & the British Empire (mostly the British) were at odds over various imperial ambitions (post Crimean War). We wanted a message sent to the French and the British not to intervene in the Civil War. Having the Russian fleet nearby helped in that message. We also were trusted by the Russians (and Japanese!) to broker an end to the Russo-Japanese War.

There really isn’t any reason for the US and Russian to be at odds our spheres of natural geopolitical influence are very different. No reason at all unless deliberately so by either side.

The US and Russia weren't almost allies, they were allies during both world wars!

Naomi Wolf’s change of heart is the first thing that came to mind when I read this piece. I wonder if we’re entering a kind of ideological Jubilee season where bad ideas get dumped and those who held them are forgiven. If this kind of thing becomes a trend and hits critical mass, maybe it could yield a much needed course correction.

#64: thanks for the excellent quotes. Something is up behind the scenes for him to drop this article. It will be interesting to see if other notable Neocons join his lead

After reading through this screed, it is quite obvious that Max has just begun his journey and has a long way to go before he leaves the Neo-Con plantation.

If you live in Berlin then bragging about a trip to Paris is like sayin I took a flight from Denver to LA, not a big damn deal. Try to punk someone who is geographically ignorant.

More so in WWI, Allies of convenience in WWII.
In WWI they were part of the original Allies, we joined later. In WWII remember they had at various times invaded Poland, Finland, signed a NonAgression Past with Hitler, invaded Poland again sponsored subversion throughout the West; the later it was “Help Help us from mean old Hitler!”.
Again an Ally when convenient!

Not saying he didn’t!
He’s trying to reunite old Imperial Russia, essentially the 1914 borders. He feels he has a mystical duty to do so. Remember the old Orthodox myth; Russia is the 3rd Rome.

He’s the modern form of the Czar or so his closet advisors tell him.
