Tucker Carlson responds to Jan. 6 criticism from Schumer, McConnell: Why is the Senate majority leader joining the Senate minority leader against airing of the footage?

Fox News host Tucker Carlson responded to criticism from Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) over releasing footage of the Capitol protests from Jan. 6, 2021.

While speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer accused Carlson of "lying" and "manipulating" his audience by releasing the footage.  

"To say January 6 was not violent is a lie, a lie pure and simple.  I don't think I've ever seen a prime-time cable news anchor manipulate his viewers the way Mr. Carlson did last night.  I don't think I've ever seen an anchor treat the American people and American democracy with such disdain."

Schumer pleaded for Fox News to prohibit Carlson from running a "second segment of lies."

McConnell also denounced the release of the footage, calling it a "mistake."  He cited a statement from U.S. Capitol Police chief Tom Manger, who called it "offensive and misleading."

"Clearly the chief of the Capitol Police, in my view, correctly described what most of us witnessed firsthand on January 6," McConnell told reporters.

"It was a mistake, in my view, for Fox News to depict this in a way that's completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at the Capitol thinks," he continued.

In response, Carlson called the criticisms "hysteria," saying the footage is a "threat" to the lies Schumer has told about Jan. 6.

Typically, I don't watch FoxNews but on 3/8 I watched Tucker Carlson to see what he would do with the J6 footage he received. I though he did a fair job of exposing the J6 lies perpetuated by our government. I again watched Carlson the evening of 3/9 hoping to see more exposure on J6 lies and more video that exonerates many being held political prisoners.

What did we get on 3/9? Crickets! Looks like Murdoch, Ryan, Schumer and the deep state have shut Carlson's mouth. I was very disappointed! We're now living in a despotic police state with government withholding and doctoring evidence with impunity. I don't have any faith in out present government.

Well, FoxNews is back on my 'do not watch' list.

Zero continued coverage of the government's J6 crimes on the 3/9 show tells me that Schumer, Ryan and Murdock have muzzled Tucker. Freedom of the press applies only to those who own the press. In Tucker's case, that would be Murcock, the owner of FoxNews.
