In organizational theory it’s well known that any large organization can only do one thing well. An example of this is education. When reading, writing and arithmetic were the focus of educators the system did an astounding job. When they added in political indoctrination you end up with schools that have zero students proficient in math. (My guess is the students aren’t proficient in anything else, either.) Incidentally, a corollary is that a company that buys companies in other businesses will run them all poorly for a similar reason. One business leader called it deworseiffication.

I noticed when General Dynamics started courses on “diversity” that they took up a lot of time, but the completion of tasks I was monitoring slowed more than the hours we spent getting indoctrinated. In discussing this, I found that employees were so disturbed that they spent time looking for other jobs, just sitting around seething with anger and other unproductive activities. All of this while charging the task they were supposed to be working on.

Bingo!

And when the organization is a federal government that is now larger (in $$ spent) than any of the 50 states ... how to manage that beast?

Good post.

The current zealots in HR spread the message that “white people are evil”.

Then they are surprised when all the talented white people bail at the first opportunity.
