Yeah, the article is "messed up". At least some of the disputed islands are in Palawan Province, but are well to the west of Palawan Island.

The whole thing is a real fustercluck. SEVEN different countries have claims on various portions or all.

Anybody can dispute something. China has little to no claims on the islands they illegally annexed. The International Court said as much, and yet China stays.
