Synthetic Opioid Overdose Deaths Soared While Trump Was President (Barf Alert
Forbes ^ | March 2, 2023 | Stuart Anderson

Overdose deaths from synthetic opioids soared during the time Donald Trump was president, raising questions about efforts to blame the Biden administration’s border policies for drug overdose deaths. Data show the Trump administration’s decision to close U.S. ports of entry to nonessential traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 had the consequence of accelerating drug traffickers’ shift to fentanyl, a more potent drug than heroin, which helped lead to an increase in drug overdose deaths.

Utter garbage propaganda. First a direct attempt at correlation to causation. Second now discussion on how fentanyl can be transported much easier due to requiring smaller amounts, ergo easier to smuggle, this was evident in the increase in fentanyl trafficking across the boarder.

I really abhor these presitute propagandists.

Forbes (/fɔːrbz/) is an American business magazine owned by Integrated Whale Media Investments and the Forbes family.

Company Integrated Whale Media Investments, China (Hong Kong) (95%)[3]
Forbes family (5%)

Forbes is owned by the chicoms and spreads chink-friendly propaganda. Who do the chinks NOT want as the next president?

That’s because the druggies hated the thought of America becoming great again. They prefer to live in the septic tank we have now. That’s the way druggies are.

So closing down ports of entry exacerbated the issue? People were trapped at home. Govt was paying them to stay there. Covid didnt stop drug dealers.

The first noticeable uptick in Fentanyl deaths was in 2013. This was followed by a steep rise in the years 2014-2016. These was a moderate slowing of the increase during Trump's first three years (2017-2019), but the numbers again skyrocketed in 2020 and 2021, the years of the Covid shutdowns.

So, the suggestion that Trump's shipping regulations were somehow the cause of the rapid rise of Fentanyl deaths is rubbish - the sharp increases preceded his presidency by three years. The increase since 2012 seems more like the result of a general social malaise, exacerbated by the stress of the shutdown years.

Addendum: Fentanyl deaths continued to skyrocket in 2021 after Biden took office: about 70,600, up from about 56,500 in Trump’s final year - a 25% increase.

Nonsense. Fentanyl is cheap. The cartels were shifting to it because there is a market for it; cocaine is much more expensive and difficult to smuggle. Meth too. Fentanyl, a small amount goes a long way. And, they are putting meth in the cocaine too probably trying to get more addicts or just simply biological warfare by the cartels. They obviously don't care who dies nor that they are killing their customers.

One of the problems was the FDA crackdown on prescription pain medicine. I know people shouldn't abuse those meds for recreational use or depression but for about a decade or more they were easy to obtain. Then gone. People who couldn't get off the prescriptions or couldn't afford the black market stuff switched to heroin, which is now replaced by fentanyl. Maybe we should reconsider whether these addicts should be able to get a pill from a legitimate pharmaceutical manufacturer vs this unregulated, unmeasured and hard to dose illegal crap.

Without checking your numbers my instinct tells me you are correct in the stats and the rationale. People locked in homes, some chose to take drugs. I am not blaming the victims here we as a country have really crappy policies. We created a system of enabling illegal drug abuse.

Yep.

The very same CONgrifters who are shoveling hundreds of billions of OUR tax dollars at the Ukraine couldn't spare a few billion for a tightly secured southern border Wall for the United States.

Eff this POS Forbes fabulist Stuart Anderson.

Yeah no kidding. Total over reach in conclusions and the article was definitely written by a Trump hater. We all know that NRO is part of the enemy. Now Forbes is too.
