Yes. And I go one step further. I always take a battery-powered wedge alarm with me when I travel. I put it at the door. If the door opens, a loud-as-hell alarm goes off. They’re available on Amazon, among other places.
Plus I always keep a weapon close. Doesn’t have to be a gun.
But something will be close.

Safety lock. Sixty pound of force maximum? Even if the chain doesn't break the mounting plates are not anchored well. Use something like this:
