It’s all part of the dumbing down of our workforce...He said he knew her? I travel a lot and now I am going to have to say upon check-in that I am not expecting anyone so don’t give my key out?
This is what we get for dumbing every thing down.
that’s what i am going to do from now on, and i travel with my husband.
I will inform them that we are the only 2 folks in the room, and no one else has a right to a key.
That’s insane that we have to worry about that now.
And the chance of this type of request being accurately communicated and carried out across all hotel shifts and personnel is ???
For your next hotel stay, I'd suggest using one of these:

Yep. And record yourself saying it. And keep a chair in front of your door.
As a guy I’ve lost my room keys and quickly gotten replacements without verification from front desks. That makes me think they do this a lot and randomly there are bad outcomes.
Exactly - this is what happens when you hire H2-B seasonal workers with limited grasp of English - it has been SOP at hotels for at least a decade.
Curious but did any of these women use the deadbolt and chain? May be time to invest in the doorstop alarms.
