Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin will take part in a CNN town hall next week amid speculation that he is considering seeking the GOP nomination for president in 2024.
Youngkin will meet with host Jake Tapper on March 9 at 9 p.m. Eastern time to discuss education, a topic that the Virginia chief executive leaned into during his 2021 campaign — and during his time as governor.
“During the Town Hall, Governor Youngkin will take questions from a live studio audience, and we will hear directly from parents, teachers, students and stakeholders about education and the issues that matter the most to families in Virginia and across the nation,” a CNN release said.
Youngkin, who formerly served as the co-CEO of the private equity firm the Carlyle Group, ran for governor on a platform emphasizing parents’ role in students’ education and railing against diversity initiatives that he has called an effort at “political indoctrination” from the left.
One of his first actions as governor was an executive order to ban public schools from teaching critical race theory, which examines how race has played a role in U.S. laws and institutions and is mostly taught at institutions of higher education.
Youngkin also asked his education secretary last month to look into the Advanced Placement African American studies course that has become the subject of controversy after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) administration rejected its use in schools.
Youngkin has been included in some hypothetical 2024 GOP primary polls. He told NBC News in an interview in January that he was “humbled” by discussion about his potential candidacy, but he did not commit to whether he would run.

CNN? a stupid stupid move.
Yeah, about as stupid as accepting an endorsement from The Jebster.
Moron. Town Hall will be used to attack Youngkin concerning trans and lgbqalphabetards. Book Burning Republicans may show up as well.
I speculate that Youngkin, Pompeo, Scott, Haley, Sununu, Noem, and anyone else not named DeSantis or Trump is of no importance in the 2024 nomination discussion.
LOL, fox news poll. They don’t get much worse then that.
Please elaborate on the book burning.
The Republicans just lost a special congressional election for the 4th district in southside on January 10th. Youngkin has no role to play in national politics … yet.
If Youngkin can't solve Virginia's problems, he can't solve our nation's problems. So far in Virginia Youngkin has had mixed results, mostly good. There's is a whole lot more work to be done however.
These idiots keep volunteering to walk thru the enemy's minefields.
oh vey
Ah yes, that.
CNN? Is it his advisors telling him to do this? What is wrong with him? Who does he think he will impress to vote for him going on the commie propaganda network? Stupid.
Trump “feud?” Trump made a comment, Youngkin refused to snipe back, and that’s a “feud?”
Doesn’t have the judgment to be President if he goes on CNN. I’d have more respect for him if he was going on Chinese government television (but maybe those are the same thing).
Should run for VA Senate.
“There is a whole lot more work to be done however.”
Until the state Senate flips to GOP, Youngkin’s impact will be limited. Stopping the dems in their nefarious tracks has been his greatest success yet.
Not really. Youngkin has no fear of the spewage of a gaggle of liberal harpies. Early on, Trump parried with hostile media as well.
Worry not. Youngkin will handle them just fine.
Youngkin ought to know better. CNN?
He’s looking for the CNN viewers support?
No doubt, CNN viewers are looking to pick a republican nominee that is NOT Trump, no matter who.
