A hurricane in Florida knocks out all of the power and everyone with an EV is stuck.
My daughter lived near Gulf Shores, AL and complained about gas stations not being able to pump gas when the power is out from a hurricane. You'd think they'd have backup generators, but evidently not. I've seen that here too with power outages, though from tornados not hurricanes and usually not taking nearly as long for the power to be restored. And limited in scope (a tornado might knock out power on a path no larger than a few miles in width, unless it's the 2011 tornado that was the largest set of tornadoes in our lives), so if you have gas for a few miles you can find a gas station within reach.
