Not only that, envy is stoked heavily by our media and in culture. It’s all about creating division and envy to divide and conquer. You are right, envy is a natural predilection in the human mind, but it doesn’t have to be encouraged like it is.
People in poverty in this country are probably quite a bit better off than many people in much of the world (and definitely compared to historical quality of life), but that doesn’t matter, because if you see someone with a nicer car or bigger house, you think it must be unfair somehow, and you want to be given those things that other people had to work and risk for.

You’re absolutely right about there being “stockers of envy”. It’s what Nietzsche called “tarantulas”. They are by far the biggest problem in any society. They are today’s equity mongers.
Most poor and less capable people understand their situation and are aware of their limitations and without these stokers of hate, they would be relatively content. But once their goaded with envy, their reaction is understandable.
