“...he’s NOT a Republican”

He’s still largely In Name Only.

To: boycott

Because those “newscasters” are supporting him, i.e. endorsing RDS in campaign promotional programs.

Besides me and Jesus, nobody is perfect on politics.

I'm not asking anyone to be perfect in politics.

But I do want my government leaders to be perfect when it comes to principles. And as far as I was concerned, this was where governors all over the U.S. (including DeSantis) failed miserably.

One of the lessons I've learned over the years is that it's absolutely critical to see how a leader (in government or business) reacts at the very start of a crisis -- when all the facts are not known, and when panic is understandable.

People in leadership positions show their primary instincts in these situations.

And I have nothing but contempt for anyone who acts like a dictator and throws all principles of freedom and liberty out the window at a critical time. As a business owner myself, there are few things more detestable in America than the idea that some @sshole in government who never misses a paycheck would take it upon himself to shut down even so much as a single business establishment that has been built, owned and managed by a law-abiding American.

There's a reason why the primary instinct of so many people in government is for a totalitarian government solution to a crisis: It's because they've worked in government all their lives (and in the case of DeSantis, spent a long stretch of his government careers in the U.S. military) and they simply have no respect for the fundamental principle that freedom and liberty exists outside of government and is not subject to negotiation.

trump has 2 failed marriages...

trump filed for bankruptcy 6 times...

those aren’t the traits of someone with principles...

“Trump tried to pill power away from Fauci,”

Wasn’t too effective was it?

“He was one of the first to realize the official directives were wrong and changed course. Far better than Trump who did nothing about Fauci and others despite the complete LIES about masking, distancing and lockdowns being exposed by the scientific community.”

Exactly right. I get so tired of bumper sticker mentality. Some hear something and just repeat it instead of thinking.

“What makes that interesting is that I voted for him because he’s NOT a Republican”

So was Ross Perot.

And Trump delivered the Florida Governorship to DeSantis in 2018 that Ron was losing. Without Trump there would be no Ron DeSantis. BTW: I’m no apologist, I’m a realist. RDS is bought and paid for by the people that got us into this current mess.

...and DeSantis delivered Florida for Trump in 2020.

So, DeSantis does not owe Trump anything.

You can claim DeSantis is bought and paid for.....but given he is a far better conservative and defender of conservative policies than Trump, I will take him.

Trump did not lock down the country, he allowed Fauci and his Surgeon General to continue recommending the masking, distancing and lockdowns.

Most governors took their guidance from Trump’s government until a few woke up (like DeSantis).

The governors took direction from Trump’s team (Fauci, Birx, etc)

A few governors woke up and changed course.

Trump’s team still endorses masking and lockdowns.

Think of Governor Ron DeSantis and President Trump on one side of the spectrum and George Soros and Joe Biden on the other side..

A classic war between good and evil brewing...

Oh, stop. Trump publicly in summer 2020 gave directive to the Governors to manage as their own states in order to encourage them to open. It was the states and Governors who have the power and authority not the the Pres or the Federal Govt.
Trumps “team” are still encouraging masks and mandates? “His” team? Fauci was a Federal govt team member for 40 years, Birki too. Wasn’t wrong to start with them. Trump brought in Dr Scott Atlas and another Dr whose name I always forget mid-summer 2020. Both have books out about their WH Covid team experience. You should read them.

Brought in Dr Atlas and other doctor to COUNTER what Fauci and Birki were doing.

Like Kristi Noem? I thought Ron was such an intelligent, independent thinker so why did he listen to team Fauci?

DeSantis did not “deliver” Florida to Trump I’m 2020. Trump won it handily both years. There seems to be a bit of magical thinking where Ron is concerned.

Most governors took their guidance from Trump’s government until a few woke up (like DeSantis).

I'm not so sure about that. In several states where I was doing business at the time, the governors collectively imposed all kinds of restrictions/lockdowns and publicly complained that the Trump administration wasn't giving them any direction at all.

I'm convinced most of these governors WANTED Trump to lock the whole country down -- so they could drape the resulting economic disaster around his neck and impeach him for being a dictator.

I'm not sure what bankruptcy has to do with principles. And I'm referring to political principles, not personal virtue.

It wasn't John the beloved apostle who Jesus appointed as the rock upon which He would build His Church -- it was the ill-tempered, cowardly Peter. There was a reason for that.
