It is hilarious that anyone talks about an invasion force heading towards Moscow. A seance with General Kutuzov and his strategy against Napolean should bring roars of laughter. Just let them sputter along forward as you pick off the logistics train, and snipe at the passing forces. Napolon did eventually reach Moscow where he had to turn back because his shambling wreck of an army could not sustain itself and during the inevitable retreat the losses were even more horrifying.

The Russians are justly paranoid about invaders, because it does cause enormous hardship and they have been through it lots of times in their history. That doesn't mean it ever turns out well for the invader in the end. But it's this whole oh God here come some new idiots thing that must be very depressing to them.
