China considers sending Russia artillery shells, U.S. officials say

China is considering sending Russia lethal military aid in the form of artillery shells as President Vladimir Putin’s army rapidly depletes its supply of ammunition a year into his invasion of Ukraine, U.S. officials said, a prospect that has alarmed those in the Biden administration who believe Beijing has the ability to transform the war’s trajectory.

There is no evidence that any weapons transfers have occurred, these officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the U.S. government’s assessment. But if China does move ahead, it would mark the first time Beijing has provided lethal aid in the conflict despite repeated warnings by the United States not to provide such support. It would also violate the spirit of a peace plan Chinese leaders proposed Friday.

The aid being contemplated consists of 122-millimeter and 152-millimeter rounds, which Russia has in dwindling supply as it prosecutes a war largely fought with artillery, the officials said.

The disclosure, first reported Friday by the Wall Street Journal, follows a public warning from Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said last weekend that Beijing is seriously considering a provision of lethal aid. It comes, too, as Western nations grow increasingly concerned that Chinese involvement in the conflict could prove a significant setback for Ukraine and its backers.

“China has the capacity to be a game-changer,” said a senior U.S. administration official.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In response to Blinken’s warning, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said this week that China “will never accept the U.S. pointing fingers at Sino-Russian relations or even coercing us.” Urging the United States to “earnestly reflect on its own actions,” Wang said “it is the United States and not China that is endlessly shipping weapons to the

U.S. officials said, a prospect that has alarmed those in the Biden administration who believe Beijing has the ability to transform the war’s trajectory.

First, this is the Bezos Compost, which lacks all credibility. This piece of tripe propaganda uses anonymous sources. Can you believe it? Do you believe that the Biden Administration is really alarmed? I highly doubt no one saw this coming. Is the State Dept, Pentagon and our Hugh intelligence community that oblivious? In all series, I have no idea why I pay taxes.

Second, the conspiracy part: this is a highly orchestrated global rearrangement of global power. Biden is nothing but an idiot tool that has been paid off to play a role in all of this. The Biden Crime Family has been paid by all parties involved: Ukraine, Russia and China. Biden is being manipulated by multiple parties. Zelenskyy is pulling. Putin is pushing. And Xi is kicking his ass but Biden has no idea that’s happening because of the stench from his diaper has blinded him.

It takes multiple powers to start WWIII, one of which needs to be the United States. It’s not much of a war without us. WWIII is the vehicle for the global power realignment. Biden is so inept and incompetent that he doesn’t see it coming. Meanwhile, much of Congress is so much on the take from the Military Industrial Complex that they are blinded by greed and bound by bribes, err campaign contributions, that they fully support the mass manufacture of arms, which are quickly depleted and need to be replaced - over and over again.

That makes us weak. We are not manufacturing arms for our defense. Those dollars are wasted. That time is wasted. Those resources are wasted. We are going backward. Our readiness grows lower each day. The woke social justice warriors in the Biden Administration and Pentagon have made it such that arm services recruiting is at all time lows. Our best forces are operating at levels that just meet the arbitrary standards for readiness, slightly over 80%. It gets worse each day as more soldiers leave than come in.

Meanwhile, the average American gains zero from this. In fact, all that is happening to the American public is negative. Our government ignores the open border, the little people in East Palestine and makes everyone poorer thru terrible economic policies. Everything is backwards and upside down. The $700 Billion Inflation Reduction Act, the $1.7 Trillion ominous bill, and the $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act have all been signed into law since August. All they do is spend money that we do not have and cause inflation while solving none of America’s most pressing problems. Add to that $200 Billion in unaccounted and unaudited aid to Ukraine for a border dispute where we have zero vital national interests.

Yes, that’s my optimistic view of things. You don’t want to know what I really think is happening.

Obama started this stupid phrase. He refused to send Ukraine military aid that goes bang. That meant radar was okay, but ATGM wasn’t.

Same thing in Canada. That’s why I was making fun of the arms shipments. It’s all a joke

Canada is like the little kid egging on the bully assuming that the bully will defend him when the counter-attack comes. It ignorse the fact that Canada is the first Western Hemisphere country in range. And Ottowa is about a stalwart defender of a government by and for the people as are the denizens of Davos.

We are the only superpower, we are watching the preschoolers fight on the playground for the 5th strait decade.

Russia big move was the Cuban missile crisis and they could not muster a navy to fight that war.

If the US lets its full military might out via NATO for 10 minutes this war is over.

I don’t think the war is worth the risks for the united states but that is a minority view, let Russia keep the mess of semi urban wastelands they have captured and charge them for the cleanup.

Putin put his nation in a box for the next 50 years, lets take advantage of his screwup. The Germans want US natural gas, sell it to them marked up to pay for this fiasco they created. The protection racket of the EU is no longer free, pay up or learn to speak Russians. I heard exactly that in speech writer terms from a former us president at some point.

I hope they don’t miss lol.

Canada has a pretty tough military record, but those days are gone, and now at best they’re to be used against us. They want our guns so bad.

> We are the only superpower, we are watching the preschoolers fight on the playground for the 5th strait decade. <

I think it all depends on how you define “superpower”. As I see it, a superpower can do pretty much anything it wants, with little thought of the consequences.

Under that definition, there are currently no superpowers. As you noted, the US military could roll back Russia in a day if it wanted to...unless Russia got desperate and decided to use tactical nukes.

So yes, we’d have to think about consequences.

As a side note, my word choice of “superpower” is probably not the best one here. There is probably a better word for one country that can dictate to all other countries. I just can’t think of that word now.

[It’s telling that they have stocks of shells that Russian artillery can fire. Been secret Allie’s for a long time.]

Not all that secret, up to the point Mao broke it off in the 60’s when he decided China was gonna be the big cheese in the relationship. Most of the Chinese equipment used to consist of cloned or licensed copies of the Russian stuff. I bet they have huge amounts of stored ammo in the same calibers as the Russia guns, along with the mothballed guns. Maybe they’ll just hand the entire stock over, because they are now allegedly standardized on NATO caliber guns.

Yes, China’s move here could be quite significant. But I doubt if it will affect Biden’s plans. In all things:

Conservatives pay attention to reality, and make adjustments as necessary.
Liberals completely ignore reality, and continue on with their fantasies.

https://sonar21.com/americas-delusional-military-fantasy/

One of the lessons that should be learned from the war in Ukraine on the anniversary of the start of Russia’s Special Military Operation is that the United States has the most expensive military in the world but is totally unprepared to fight a first world power. During the last year we have learned that javelins, stingers and HIMARS are not game changers for Ukraine. The war in Ukraine has exposed the weakness of the U.S. and European military industrial base. NATO has lost its ability to produce essential ammunition required to sustain Ukraine’s needs in the battle and lacks stockpiles of tanks and armored vehicles that Ukraine begs for on a daily basis. The U.S. is no longer the industrial behemoth that churned out tanks, planes, aircraft carriers, destroyers and bombs in the Second World War.

Russia, for its part, continues to steadily advance along the entire 1000 mile front (not as fast as a bunch of arm chair generals want) and is inflicting massive casualties on the Ukrainian forces. At no point since February 2022 has Ukraine been able to mount a counter attack against a numerically equal Russian force. Ukraine’s much ballyhooed offensive from last August/September was against an outnumbered group of military police and Russia managed to effect a professional tactical retreat.

The real game changer is Russia’s industrial base. Russia has the natural resources, the factories and the skilled workers to produce the weapons, vehicles, tanks and planes it needs to sustain its forces in the field. The Biden Administration, the media and the pundits in America fail to grasp this reality. Instead they continue to repeat the lie that Russia’s economy is in tatters and drowning under the weight of U.S. sanctions.

###

t is true that U.S. forces took control in 2003 of sizeable chunks of Iraq and occupied Baghdad. But the Iraqi Army lacked air power and effective artillery. Yee haw!! America beat up the kid in a wheel chair. Let us not forget that the United States’ policies in Iraq also spawned a deadly insurgency and led to the birth of ISIS, which carried out epic terrorist attacks in Europe, the Middle East and America. Iraq displayed the impotence of U.S. military power to create a stable political order.

I really question the intelligence of a person who touts the “U.S. rolling over the Taliban and Al Qaeda in 2001 – 2002” and blithely ignores the U.S. ignominious defeat in Afghanistan in August 2021. The Taliban that we supposedly vanquished took back Kabul and forced the United States into a panicked withdrawal. Oh yeah. The U.S. abandoned thousands of Afghans who we had promised previously to protect.

And then there is the ghost of Vietnam. “We won every major engagement against the Vietnamese communists.” So what! Killing Viet Cong in the jungles and mountains did not prevent the North Vietnamese from sweeping down and vanquishing the South Vietnamese government. Here again, U.S. military power was impotent to create a political outcome that served U.S. national interests.

Most Americans indulge the fantasy that if we just use more military force (i.e., more cowbell). This insanity continues to posses the political class controlling Washington and they show no sign of relenting in their quest to destroy Vladimir Putin and magically transform Russia into a lackey of the West. That is what is at stake in Russia’s war in Ukraine and the majority of the Russian people, not just the political and military leaders, understand this threat.

We are witnessing the end of the era when the strength of the U.S. economy and its control of the world economy via the petro dollar enabled Washington to pursue its reckless, multiple overseas military expeditions.

If China puts their stocks and manufacturing capacity behind Russia, it would triple the tonnage Russia is able to hit the Ukrainians.
