While I’m a big Ukraine supporter, it’s a tough call to push for a speedy victory that might result in Russian escalation.

Winning and doing it quickly is the most moral way to resolve a war. (Surrender generally is not moral).

I have to question Gen Keane, he spent many weeks predicting that Ukraine would fall, even after the Russian invasion got bogged down outside Kiev.

West never should of got involved. We have our own major problems, and we’re not even necessarily the good guys.

As a matter of policy and negotiating strategy, Russians talk nuclear escalation but do not do it because of the risks and drawbacks. Yet the longer the war goes on, even the small chance of Russian use of nuclear weapons becomes cumulative, so an early victory is the best way to reduce that possibility.

Gen. Keane is a solid but conventional military analyst. The consensus opinion in Washington when Russia invaded was that she would win due to superior numbers. Keane bought into it, but that does not make him wrong now.
