A defiant Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky marked the somber anniversary of the Russian invasion by vowing to bring his country to victory as battles raged on in the east with no end in sight to the conflict.
At a solemn ceremony on St. Sophia Square in Kyiv, a visibly emotional Zelensky handed out medals to soldiers and families of those killed and held back tears when a military band played the national anthem under Ukraine’s yellow-and-blue national flag fluttering in the wind.
“We have become one family. There are no more strangers among us. Ukrainians today are all fellows. Ukrainians have sheltered Ukrainians, opened their homes and hearts to those who were forced to flee the war,” Zelensky said in a video address titled “the year of invincibility”.
The 45-year-old first-term president sat at a desk and recalled how he addressed Ukrainians a year ago in a brief statement, as Russian troops poured into the neighboring country, hoping to bring it to heel in three days’ time.

There is nothing in any of his statements that sound anything like Hitler.
Colonel MacGregor (ret.) said that the Ukrainians met with Pentagon staff expecting to outline their ‘needs’. Instead they were told the Ukraine was not going to receive enough ammunition to continue to fight and would simply ‘run out’ of ammo by summer. Zelensky was supposedly told directly, “and then you will lose.”
But, the money flows as long as Zelensky can maintain sufficient optics. The NATO nations all pulled back on promised hardware because it’s a lost cause. I know our State Department just gave Z another 1/2 Billion or so. The money continues to flow...

Russia expected to fight the Ukraine enough to get them to negotiate (e.g, the Ukrainians would promise to stop killing ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine). Putin didn't know he would be fighting the combined efforts of NATO. The war is not being directed by Ukrainians - it's NATO. The weapons - NATO. Additional troops - NATO. The Ukrainians should have admitted they can't win and negotiated a long time ago. But they are going to keep shoving soldiers in front of the Russians until they run out of bullets - in June or earlier.
