DeSantis Proposes Human Smuggling Crackdown, Mandatory E-Verify, Ban on Driver’s Licenses for Illegal Aliens

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has issued a set of proposals to crack down on illegal immigration across the state of Florida, blasting President Joe Biden for “reckless … open border policies.”

DeSantis detailed the list of legislative proposals during a press conference in Jacksonville on Thursday, urging Florida state legislators to approve the initiatives that would increase criminal penalties for human smugglers, enforce a statewide ban on employers hiring illegal aliens, and prohibit counties from issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, among other things.

“I think we’re going to be able to do more in the next couple of months when the legislature reconvenes than anyone’s been able to do in the modern history of Florida,” DeSantis said.

And further down in this article DeSantis will require voters to be citizens!!!!!

“””Separately, the proposal would require those registering to vote to affirm that they are a citizen of the United States and a Florida resident. Such a change would come as a number of Democrat-controlled cities look to allow illegal aliens to vote in municipal elections.””””

No governor could be conservative enough for me. But Ron is getting there.

Funny how aspiration to the Presidency suddenly draws even a conservative GOP governor further to the right.

Great proposals, but they do not solve the cause of the problem.

Cleaning cobwebs is great… but we’ve got to get the spider or it continues.

The Cervesa boys shouldn’t be allowed to have licenses in the U.S. anyway. They aren’t citizens. They’re, drunken, free loading, scrounging future RAT “refugeez”.

Why are counties issuing driver’s licenses? Isn’t that a function of the state government?

Maybe it depends on which State. In Michigan they are State issued.

Did he have a willing legislature during his first term?

Very much so. The Florida legislature has had substantial, secure conservative Republican majorities for years. The problem for them and DeSantis is that Florida agriculture and key business interests want illegal immigration in order to keep wages low. Without DeSantis leading on the issue, nothing of consequence was done.

We’re blessed to have DeSantis - he’s making Florida free and safe...

When protesters were surrounding cars in other states DeSantis and his team told us if we’re concerned about our safety to just ‘keep driving’ in that situation... The result? None of the usual left wing nuts stopped traffic in Florida.
