it is not the kind of thing you want to ask in polite company. Yeah, I know what you mean!
Like that neighbor of mine from whose basement all those cries and shouts are always emanating - usually after newspaper reports of college-age girls going missing in the area.
The cries usually die down after a couple of days, to be replaced by moans and whimpers - before ceasing entirely.
I would never be so rude as to mention this to anyone! "It is not the kind of thing you want to ask in polite company."
