DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace” on Sunday that when he says the border is secure, he does not mean that people aren’t able to cross the border illegally, because “by that measure, the border has never been secure.”

Blatant "Demand for Perfection" Fallacy!

Nobody expects Mayorkas to seal the border 100%. But by proffering that "Straw Man" argument, Mayorkas is able to distract from the fact that, under Biden, border security has worsened, and that his administration's ineffectual measures have actually contributed to the problem!

There’s always been some people who manage to cross the border and live here illegally, but we’re not talking about a few but about thousands upon thousands in a short period of time. What was a manageable trickle is now an invasion.

Yes, the DHS Secretary is also guilty of equivocation - attempting to conflate the meaning of "massive invasion triggered by Biden policies, permanently and irreversibly changing the demographic make-up of our Nation" and "well, there have always been some people illegally crossing the border."
