It’s all preference. They like their billionaires and hate others, but all part of the same network.
I like Musk, he’s eccentric and brilliant but a loose cannon. He is also part of the team at Breakthrough Energy along with Bezos, Gates, Ma, et al.
Folks believe what they want and says more about them than the other person.

If a large professional organization (for example a law firm, since they are often lopsidedly full of lefties) needs to send a couple of partners over to donate on the right (since both sides of the aisle need to be bought for maximal lobbying), they will often look for a couple of partners who are a little less on the left to take on that role for the good of the firm.

What I was suggesting is that the Musks and Thiels of the world are similarly sent over to buy themselves into the good graces of the right—which includes perhaps appearing like a loose cannon.
