DeSantis lays out timeline for 2024 decision
The Hill ^ | 02/20/23 | BY MAX GREENWOOD

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) hinted on Monday that he will make a decision on a 2024 presidential run after the state’s legislative session wraps up in May, giving the clearest timeline yet of when he could enter the race.

Asked on “Fox & Friends” when he might decide on a White House bid, DeSantis mapped out the coming months, saying that he would embark on a tour to promote his new book, “The Courage to be Free,” and work through the Florida legislature’s regular session, which begins in early March.

“We’re going to sell some books, we’re going to spread the message of Florida. And then on March 8, I have our Legislative Session that’s kicking off,” DeSantis said.

“You ain’t seen nothing yet,” he added. “This is going to be the most productive Legislative Session we have had across the board and I think people are going to be really excited … So those are what we’re going to be doing over these next few months as we get beyond that, then we can decide from there.”

Republican sources have long predicted that DeSantis would wait until after the state legislative session to announce a presidential bid, saying that it would give him a chance to rack up new policy victories so that he hits the campaign trail with fresh momentum.

do ya really think tens of millions of Trump supporters, after being robbed of their sacred votes, will suddenly willy nilly line up behind yet another back stabbing lawyer turned career politician?

You keep saying this, yet you have no evidence it would ever happen.

In fact, you only need to look towards Georgia to see that it, in fact, DIDN'T happen.

A butthurt and humiliated Donald Trump sheepishly endorses Stacey Abrams and Brian Kemp still brings home the MAGA voters.

Are you kidding? Ya think Trump will endorse the guy who appears to be backstabbing him in an effort to keep Trump away from the presidency, to stop Trump from getting back what was stolen from him after Trump endorsed DeSantis?

C’mon .

Hopefully it’s move the heck on. Of course the only person in the country who cleaned up election procedures is Ron DeSantis.

Do you really think if DeSantis somehow won the primary, which he won’t, do ya really think tens of millions of Trump supporters, after being robbed of their sacred votes, will suddenly willy nilly line up behind yet another back stabbing lawyer turned career politician?

Respectfully, don't you think that whomever wins the GOP nod in the 24 primary should win the GOPers' votes in the general?

When we observe the "fundamental changes" to our society in 3 short years of Mister Biden, I shudder to think what another 4 under Dem control might do to our great Nation and wonderful traditions.

I worry about the nation that we leave our grandchildren more than who is our team's quarterback. If Trump wins the nod, I'll vote for him. If it's DeSantis, wouldn't you vote for DeSantis?

Much like President Trump endorsing Mitt Romney for the US Senate race.

Here's the rules: We're supposed to accept Trump endorsing all of these RINOs because the alternative was a Democrat winning.

But we're also supposed to call DeSantis a traitor and backstabber for endorsing Joe O'Dea in Colorado as opposed to his Democrat opponent, I guess?

You mean like Dick Cheney moving to Wyoming the week before being announced as W’s VP pick.

And yes, the courts said that was legal and threw out the challenge to Cheney.

DeSantis supporters want another career politician back in the White House. Party before country cabal of lawyers and politicians. The insiders club. So I really don’t care what DeSantis supporters do. I see most of them as establishment backstabbers. You understand.

I would not dare predict what President Trump would or would not do.

If we have learned anything about him it is that he is unpredictable.

Most of Florida is behind DeSantis... so what?

I’m a Trump supporter and I know DeSantis is the best governor we’re ever had here in Florida. I want both men to be President - Trump for another four years and DeSantis for the following 8.

Who’s the better bet, someone who built a world wide business empire, who has experience and skills like Trump, who can’t be bought off, or someone whose only job outside government was a grade school teacher for one year?

??

Well, if I’m willing to hold my nose and vote for your vaxx pushing candidate who throws gay parties at his house, if I have to, seems you could vote for someone else besides Trump. But I guess you’ll just accept nothing less.

My polite suggestion is to think of people in your life, kids, grandkids etc, and decide whether their lives' well being, their future, is more or less important than the lost political statement of a wasted protest vote.

I do think, however, that should DJT lose the nom, he'll likely endorse the winning GOP candidate. I believe that he has that much will for American success in him.

I meant that DeSantis is positioning himself to make a deal with Trump to be his VP pick. Notice how DeSantis isn’t responding to Trumps insults.

I disagree.

1. One of them would have to move his legal residence out of Florida.
2. DeSantis' position in 2028 would not be strengthened by being Trump's VP pick (win or lose). He is well positioned for POTUS down the line. Weaker people (e.g. Haley) would be more interested in VP.

After the Trump era, I’d guess there won’t be a damn person left to trust in D.C. They’ll all be lawyers and career politicians. I can no longer stomach nor do I trust those who live off government all their lives. They’re a pack of lying sellouts and bastards. But don’t believe me, just look at the state of America. It’s all but dead on the floor.
